Rental terms & platform rules.
Version 2026-10-26 · Public preview
Live payments open after the operator has supplied its legal identity, support contact, provider connections, and approved operating terms. These rules describe the product’s current behaviour; final legal terms must be reviewed before a paid launch.
Who can use the marketplace
Owners must own the inventory or have authority to rent it, use accurate descriptions and photographs, and disclose condition, contents, restrictions, and practical pickup details. Renters must use inventory lawfully and return it on time in the agreed condition. A verified private phone number is required before publishing or booking. Email or social sign-in is not a representation of identity verification, insurance, licensing, or inventory quality.
Requests and reservations
Items reserve available stock immediately for a one-hour payment window. Locations require host approval first; an accepted location request holds the space for 24 hours while payment is arranged. A rental is confirmed only when the payment provider verifies payment. Dates are inclusive, use Toronto calendar days, and follow the listing’s saved duration, stock, and cancellation rules.
Prices and commission
Prices are in CAD. The owner sets rental charges, delivery, and any refundable deposit. Rentloop’s standard commission is 15% of the rental charge, deducted from the owner’s rental allocation rather than added as an extra renter fee. Listing is always free. The standard rate applies from the first paid rental unless an administrator has agreed a different owner rate for that personal or business account. The agreed rate is saved with each new rental request; choosing Business alone does not grant a discount. Existing reservations keep the fee agreement saved when they were requested. The owner’s rental price remains payable. Tax is calculated at checkout when payments are enabled. Processing fees, refunds, claims, and adjustments can affect settlement. No payment is collected during a request.
Cancellation
Flexible: full rental refund before pickup day; no rental refund from pickup day. Standard: full rental refund at least seven days ahead; 50% two to six days ahead; no rental refund one day ahead or later. Owner cancellations refund the renter. Delivery, deposit, prior refunds, and tax are handled in the server cancellation preview and provider record. Contact support for changes after handoff.
Handoff, return, and claims
Keep clear condition photos and messages. A renter reports return, and the owner reviews it. Pickup and return photos are optional private records; handoff codes are not required. A return without an open case may complete automatically after 48 hours. Damage claims can be raised for seven days after completion. The operator reviews evidence and can allocate only the remaining collected deposit. A deposit is a charged refundable amount, not insurance or escrow.
Settlement and disputes
Eligible owner earnings settle after the seven-day claim window, deposit resolution, and successful provider verification. Open disputes and unmatched refunds block settlement. Transfers can require recovery after refunds or chargebacks. Bank payout timing is managed separately by Stripe. The operator must review overdue rentals and unresolved funds promptly.
Privacy and safety
Exact pickup details appear only after confirmed payment. Rental evidence is shared with the participants and authorised support staff. Do not share passwords or payment card details in messages. Report unsafe listings or rental problems through Support. The operator can moderate inventory and restrict accounts where necessary.
